Personal Statement

I was watching monday night football on television. The Green Bay Packers were playing the San Francisco 49er’s. Aaron Rodgers was down by ten with a little over two minutes left and they had just left the field and were being forced to punt the ball away. Watching the game one would expect the game to be over, yet as I saw Aarons face as he walked to the sideline I knew that would not be the case. As I saw the cool, calm, collected way he left the field, I saw in his face that football is what he was born to play. He was a master of his craft and was not worried in the slightest of the score because he already knew he would win. I Don’t think I’ll ever forget that look; the face of a man who knew his worth and wasn’t afraid to put it on display. Four and a half minutes later Aaron had given his team a touchdown and a field goal so that Green Bay could easily win in overtime. I realized the power that we give individuals who achieve great things. It is natural, of course, to model oneself after another who has proven to be great, but we do not all contain the intangibles that drive a person to be better than those around them: The innate unquenchable thirst to win. All some of us can do is admire. We read stories, articles, blogs, and profiles all the time with different individuals  who each have their own unique impact on the world in some way. But I’m not one of those people; how could I be. I’m just the average person who reads and dreams about being those people, people who have made their own success and are interesting enough to read about. But I guess that’s the point, because if it were easy to bypass one’s inhibitions to pursue an uncertain goal then we might just all be successful. I know that my goal is to strive for excellence and success in whatever future may come for me. While I know not what my future holds, I understand my own capabilities and the unlimited boundaries one can reach when they commit to something greater than themself. And maybe one day some kid sitting on his couch with hopes and aspirations can look at me and want to be great.

I am a 6’2 170lb DB/WR. I’m very Lean and Lengthy,  which greatly increases my physical advantage over an opponent, but pushes me to perfect my footwork. I’m a guy who will live in the film room, and ultimately find ways to win by studying those ahead of me. I’ve only played football since my sophomore year, and I feel like my athletic potential has only begun to surface. I’m looking for a program that is committed to developing players in order to maximize my success in my four year tenure to be the best possible football player that I can be. I’d like to major in either political science or possibly economics, and hope to find a program that values its culture.

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
