Hello, my name is Cole DeFranco and I am a 2019 graduate. I was a varsity QB starter for three years. I finished my career with 9,904 Passing yards, 675 completions/ 1026 attempts, and 99 Passing touchdowns. I also had a career of 1, 451 rushing yards and 29 Rushing touchdowns.
I learned a great deal about myself in the start of the 2016 football season that I continue to carry with me. There are certain qualities a person must have to be successful in life, both athletically and academically. The qualities that you possess as an individual, but can only achieve when you are part of something much bigger, a team!
I was a transfer student the second half of my freshman year and stepped into a new locker room during winter workout. I was introduced to new teammates and a new coaching staff. From that moment I was honored to be part of a family, a brotherhood, a team. Through the next several months working with the team, I learned integrity, unity, and what it means to have each others back. We strengthened and motivated each other, whether it was in the weight room, on the field, or even in the class room. If one person was down the team would work harder to pick that person up while still maintaining the intensity level. Loyalty, trust and respect for one another was a constant, it was evident in the way we played.
I was proud to be the quarterback. Being the quarterback automatically puts you in a leadership role. A role I held to the highest standards for myself, I always gave maximum effort. I never wanted the team to fall short because I gave up the fight. As the quarterback, and the leader of the team, I found myself giving more then I ever thought that I had in me, for the success of the team and to push to the next level.
Sometimes the people you surround yourself with are the ones who bring out your best qualities as a person, athlete and student. My teammates and coaching staff have inspired me to work hard, stay focused and pay attention to detail, qualities that are required to have great character in life, standards that I will put forth to my future. Given the chance, I know I will make an impact at the next level.
