Daniel Wheeler '11 Recruiting Profile

Hi I'm Daniel Wheeler. I'm a 6'2 1/2" 220 pound senior at Lewistown Area High School. I play football and basketball at the varsity level and have been a football starter at TE/WR since my sophomore year. My highlight video from 2010 demonstrates more of my WR abilities, while the 2009 video highlights more of my skills at TE. My Jr. year, I received Honorable Mention All-Conference at Tight End for football and Second Team All-Conference at Power Forward for basketball, along with being an academic Letterman. My senior year I was voted Second team all-Conference at WR in football and 1st Team all-Conference in basketball, along with being the league MVP runner-up. I am a 3 year Letterman in football and basketball. I work very hard during both in and off season. I attended as many "optional" training sessions as possible, many times after football I head to the gym for some basketball time. I am working on my speed and agility with a personal trainer at Victory Sports in State College, PA, and have cut 0.2 sec off my 10 yard start since August. During the spring and summer I concentrate my time in the weight room. My coaches see me as a "team leader, hard worker" and "go to receiver". Opposing coaches have referred to me as "a good possession type receiver", "good blocker" and as someone who "catches the ball very well". My team mates honored me my senior season by electing me a team captain. At this time, my major is undecided, although I am leaning towards Business/Sports Management. I know for sure that I want sports to be a very large part of my future. My ultimate dream would be to be a contributing football player, playing at a highly competitive collegiate level while receiving a quality education.
