My name is Christian Schlegel and I am a quarterback at Shikellamy High School in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. My team plays in the Heartland Athletic Conference in central Pennsylvania, which is known to produce state championship teams on a regular basis. Competing in this conference sharpens my skills to play football at the collegiate level.
I believe that the best ingredient for competing is a fierce work ethic and meticulous preparation. I have had the opportunity to observe this first hand from my brother who played at Wake Forest University. Last summer I attended the IMG Academy. This helped prepare me for four major skills of the game, including mental toughness, vision, speed and strength. My goals this season are to develop these skills on the field. I will continue working on my physical development in the weight room and in speed/agility training with focus on my foot work. During the offseason, I work out regularly with my track coach and participate on our high school track and field team as a sprinter. I will also be attending numerous camps to continue developing my skills.
I will continue to work hard in the class room as high academic standards are important to me. Ultimately, I understand someday my football career will be over and by excelling in academics I will be prepared for my future career. I would like to play football for a college with both an excellent reputation for academics and with a competitive football program. I would appreciate you taking a moment to view my highlight and game film.
