Hello, I'm Jarrod Tuszka. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I'm a 6'4" 215 lb. Senior at Warner High School in Warner, SD. Warner is a small farming community in northeastern South Dakota. The Warner football team is part of SD's 9-man Class A football.
Playing football in the 9-man division has given me the opportunity to play many positions on both sides of the ball at a varsity level since the end of my 8th grade year. I have been a starter on the varsity football & basketball teams since 9th grade. As a sophomore, I was named to the All-Conference team in football and was also named All-State Punter in Class 9B. As a junior, I was a team captain, named to the All-Conference team, All-Area team and received All-State Honorable Mention. As a senior, I was team captain, our team was undefeated in the regular season and made it to the South Dakota State 9A Football Championship. It was the 1st time Warner High School made it to the State Championship game. I received All-Conference linebacker and was named All-Conference MVP Defensive Player. I also was named to the All-State team and the All-Area team. I was also chosen as a member of the Argus Leader Elite 45 among all South Dakota football players. I received All-Conference recognition in basketball as a freshman, sophomore and junior, along with being named to the All-Area team. I have also qualified for the SD State Track Meet in the 200 meter dash as an 8th grader, in the 100 & 200 meter dashes as a 9th grader finishing 9th in the state in the 200 meter dash. As a 10th grader, I qualified for the State Track Meet in the 200 meter dash, placing 8th in state, and also as an anchor on the 4x200 meter relay. As a junior, I qualified for the State Track Meet in the 100 meter (11.2), 200 meter (22.8) and medley relay. I placed 9th at the State Meet in the 100 and 5th in the 200. I have studied the martial arts and received the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt with the American Taekwondo Associaton.
Since my 9th grade year, I have played both offense and defense in a variety of positions. I am currently playing WB, TE, WR, punter and place kicker on offense. My passion is playing MLB on defense. I have also played OLB, DE, CB and FS. These roles on the WHS team have allowed me to learn the game of football while contributing to the successes of our football team, which advanced into post-season playoffs. I am also the team captain which has given me a chance to develop leadership skills by being a positive example to my fellow teammates on and off the field.
I spend my spare time working out and cross training with my 9th grade brother, Derrek. I also spend my summers working on the family farm raising beef cattle and grain which has helped to enhance my work ethic. I am a certified scuba diver and enjoy spearfishing. I also enjoy whitetail archery hunting, bow fishing for carp, and pheasant hunting. Living in rural America has been a blessing to me allowing me to prepare for and remain focused on my future.
I'm optimistic you'll find the information in my profile and my desire to enhance my skills and performance in the classroom and on the football field worth visiting with me directly. I'm excited with the prospect of becoming part of a college/university football team and contributing to the tradition of the program. My grandfather was successful as part of the University of Minnesota's football team in 1954-58 and my dad played football for the University of MN - Duluth from 1976-79, along with having coaching backgrounds. My family has shown me the value, benefit and rewards of being a contributing part of a team and the tradition of college football.
