I grew up watching my dad coach during Friday night football, watching many Saturday football games in the fall, and listening to stories about my grandfather's collegiate career. Football has always been an instrumental part of my life. I quickly grew to love the thrill of sports and became involved in sports at four years old with baseball, adding football at seven, and joining wrestling in middle school. Both the competition and camaraderie of my team and coaches have helped develop my character, improve my leadership skills, and win or lose, taught me valuable lessons.
Entering high school as both a freshman and a three sport athlete definitely involved a learning curve. I quickly realized that to play three sports as well as be an honor student, I had to learn to manage my time, work ahead on school assignments, and plan each week based on what games or matches were scheduled. As a freshman, I was able to play football and wrestle with both varsity and junior varsity which allowed me to learn from older, more experienced athletes as well as set goals for the remainder of my high school experience. Overall, my freshman experience has made me more disciplined and taught me to make decisions that are the best for athletics and academics.
My future goals and aspirations begin with being able to attend an institution that fits both my academic and athletic ideals. A higher learning institute that would be perfect for me is a place that has coaches and professors that are invested in my learning both on and off the field, care about my overall well-being, as well as be a place for me to have the opportunity to be an asset both academically and athletically.
