My name is Zach Daoust and I am currently a Senior at Rhea County High School. . Our season is still underway and we are working towards a state championship. My role on the team this year has been primarily at running back in our wing-T offense and inside linebacker. This year my focus has been on running the ball and blocking for my fellow teammates. I have over 1500 yards rushing and am averaging 10.77 yards a carry. I also play a part in our passing game, where I have over 300 receiving yards and average almost 30 yards a reception.
On the defensive side of the ball, I enjoy making big plays from the inside linebacker position. This year, I have had more playing time on offense than defense, but have still contributed with almost 50 tackles, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. My Junior year, I played only defense and finished the 2013 season with 111 tackles and received First team All-District and District Defensive MVP awards.
In the classroom, I currently maintain a 3.9 GPA, while being enrolled in honors and dual enrollment classes. It has always been a high priority of mine to make the most of my education and be the best student possible. Education comes first for my family, but football is a close second.
Spending time in the weight room is also high on my priority list. Thanks to the help of several of my coaches, I am currently benching 300lbs, squatting 455lbs and throwing up 275 on the power clean. I feel my hard work in the weight room is instrumental to success on the field. Strength and conditioning are a huge part of my preparation and personal fitness goals.
My college aspirations have always included playing football and earning a degree in a field that will serve me well in the future. I hope to find a college or university where my skills fit into the football program and allow me to succeed on the field and in the classroom. I am anxious to see where my team finishes in the play-offs and am excited for the next phase of my football career to begin.
