Since the very first time I ever watched a game of football, I have aspired to compete at a higher level. For years, I have focused a significant portion of my time toward achieving that goal by any means necessary. Specifically, I have focused my efforts on optimizing my athletic ability, choosing to compete in the most difficult division in my state and constantly seeking to better myself with consistency, repetition, and focus. I have spent a significant amount of time working to develop my physical capabilities and have also enlisted the expertise of a private quarterback coach. Though I have been successful in consistently training to improve my throwing ability, I realize that in order to completely develop as an athlete, it is crucial to employ the assistance of an experienced professional coach. To accomplish this, I sought out the best quarterback coach in the Nashville area and joined the QB Country community. In this, I have committed myself to becoming the best quarterback and athlete possible.
In addition to my physical efforts, I have developed and maintained the habits necessary to excel in the classroom. I earned my place as a Duke TIP program participant, allowing me to take both the PSAT and SAT starting in the 6th and 7th grades. I am currently a Junior at Montgomery Bell Academy, Nashville’s most selective and academically strenuous private all-boys school, where I have been active in 13 Honors and AP classes, maintaining A+ grades and earning perfect scores on all AP exams. I have been selected for and have attended two summer business study programs, one at Yale University and the other at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to obtain a new level of academic capability and prowess. This, in addition to my overall love for learning, has established the discipline within me that is necessary to succeed with a challenging course load.
In the end, much of the reason that I would like to play football at the collegiate level relates to the brotherhood and camaraderie involved in such endeavors. No other word can be used to define a football team than “brotherhood,” as each member of the team voluntarily chooses to ignore his own goals and to fight for his brothers beside him. This builds connected, successful football programs, and builds strong men. There is truly nothing like the life of a football player, as the sport inspires each player to develop a servant’s heart and an iron character, and I believe that participating in college football is an avenue to developing into the man I want to be during my four years in college.
John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
