Dillon Johnson '19 Recruiting Profile

Football has strong roots in my household.  My parents have fostered a great love of the sport from the time that I could walk with a football being one of the first presents I received as a child.  They have nurtured this love from that time encouraging me to keep pressing and to keep improving as I aged to become not only the best football player I could, but each day a better man as well.  I truly love this game and hope to continue my career in football at least through college and as far as I can go from there.

Football has taught many life lessons through both my successes and failures.  My father and mother have stressed the importance of being humble in victory and to keep my head up and improve with defeats.  This is something that I feel very strongly about as I use these lessons on a daily basis.  Life is not always going to give you everything, sometimes you have to dig deep, persevere, and work hard to get where you desire.  Plus when you are there, to appreciate the gifts before you and to not take them for granted as they can disappear just as easily.

Academics are extremely important to me.  I currently carry a 3.9 GPA in high school and I am enrolled through dual enrollment gaining college credits at this time while in high school.  I hope to continue football for as long as possible, but realize that college should be used for an education as well.  Upon graduation from college, I hope to attend medical school and eventually practice dermatology in the future.  I hope that football will allow me the opportunity to further my academics as well as sports career.

I believe that my number one asset is my attitude.  I will work till exhaustion to improve daily.  I believe that one should strive daily to improve in some aspect of their life, whether it be sports or life in general.  One of the compliments that I receive from many of the coaches I've had is being coachable.  I listen and take every piece of criticism not as an insult, but as a chance to improve something in my game.  I love to receive instruction as this will only help me to improve both on and off the field
