My name is Parker Williams. I’m currently a senior at Grantsville High School in Grantsville, Utah. I enjoy school and I do well academically, but my biggest interest has been football.
I’ve had a passion for football since I was a young boy. I started with flag football and then progressed to tackle. I’ve played quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back. My greatest strength is my ability to catch anything. I’m quick and run great routes. I also have a strong accurate arm. I attribute my receiving skills in part to my mom because we practiced for hours in my backyard and she’s not a very accurate quarterback (Lol!)
I always contribute every ounce of energy at practice and constantly look for ways to improve. Although my skills were noticed, I didn’t make the Varsity team until my sophomore year. Because of my size, I was often overlooked.
By my junior year, I was discouraged, but not defeated. I started working out more in my free time. I eliminated foods that would slow me down or impair my performance. I refocused physically and mentally. And, finally, I had a growth spurt. From the end of my junior football season to the beginning of my senior season, I grew several inches and gained 40 pounds. I am not sure if I am done growing, but I am currently 6.0 and weigh 185. I am happy to say my coaches took notice and girls notice me now too.
During my junior year, and more notably my senior year, I became a significant contributor on my high school varsity football team. I became a starter, and experienced a great deal of playing time. I had many remarkable plays and I was able to assist my team to an almost undefeated season this year.
Although football is my main focus, I enjoy weightlifting and track as well. Track has not only helped me stay in shape for football, but it has also improved my speed. I am looking forward to my last track season of my high school career and I expect to break my PR’s in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. Currently I run a 4.7 40 and my max bench press is 265 and my max squat is 385.
I am looking forward to my college experience. Although I have not decided on a major, my interests are in math and science. I enjoy solving complicated problems. I am interested in several colleges, not only in the west, but all over the country. My greatest interest is in a college with competitive football program that has a strong math and science department, and of course, a spot for me on the football team. And even a scholarship, if I’m being honest.
My greatest desire is to play football in college. Although I am from Utah, I do not want to limit myself to the mountain west area. I was not ready to hang up my cleats for the last time when my high school football career ended. I don’t know if there are adequate words to express my love for the game of football.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my interests and accomplishments, and for hopefully considering me for your college and football team.
