The first time I stepped on the field was around the first grade. It's funny to think about how far I've come because after my first season I thought I was done with the sport, and if you would've told me I would be where I am presently I probably would've laughed. But after a couple of years off, I found a passion for the game I haven't lost since. My favorite thing about the game of football is just how much about yourself you learn; I've learned how mentally tough/resilient I am, and how calmly I can work under pressure. I've also learned how to be a team player and have learned how to set up big plays for others in times I can't make them myself, some of which resulted in game-changing momentum swings. I've also learned how to silence the mind in ways to overcome a lot of physical/mental challenges that come with the game. I'm very proud of my willingness to bounce back and keep working as hard as I have despite knowing the little chances I have at a future; I've come a long way from where I first started, and I will work harder than anyone to assure high school is not my final destination. Academically, I understand the importance of maintaining good grades. I also understand that football cannot be the only thing that makes me who I am. My goal is to finish high school above a 3.95 GPA and make it into the best academic institute I can while still playing football. I've placed myself in hard classes so I can grow as a student and learn to balance out the challenges of being a student-athlete.
The biggest challenge I've faced was having someone of power try to tamper with my chances at the future I've dreamt of for personal growth. I was cornered into believing I had no options, no chances, and would never be anybody different than anyone else that he had seen. It was the first time I had felt hopeless about my dreams. I was fortunate at that time to have the parents I have because they showed me an alternate route that allowed me to pursue life the way I wanted to. I switched schools and had to learn to readjust to my surroundings, and it has been the greatest change in my life I've ever had. My biggest influencers in life have been my parents; they've shown me what it looks like to work hard through all of life's challenges, and have always been my biggest supporters of who I am and the dreams I wish to chase. They've been willing to invest so much in me to allow me the opportunities I've had, and it's a part of my dream to give back to them. My deepest fear is letting my parents down and not ever going anywhere with my dreams with how much they've sacrificed for me and my siblings. I truly believe the biggest thing that separates me from other athletes is my willingness to grow and learn, my understanding of the importance of time, and my ability to be a true team player. I always try to learn as much as I can and grow like a sponge; I'm constantly watching the opposing team's film, watching and critiquing/seeking critique on my play, and watching videos from pros to learn how to implement their tactics into my own game. I wake up at 4:00 in the morning Monday-Friday to give myself the most time I can to make the most of the day. I understand the importance of being a team player and in some plays, the best thing I can do is set someone else up for the big play. I've learned so much in life and about myself through football and have been so grateful/fortunate to experience all that I have so far, and I don't plan on stopping after my high school graduation. I cannot thank all who have helped and supported me up to this point enough; I've been very fortunate to not have to go through this journey alone. Thank you coaches who have taken the time to read this and who've placed me in consideration for your program; I know that I can make an immediate impact on your program and would love to call your school home.
