Wyatt Sandberg '25 Recruiting Profile

I am a first born son, brother to 5 siblings, and a member of a boisterous family with roots in Italian and Scandinavian heritage. I have always been large for my age, requiring that I ‘play up’, wrestle in a higher weight class, and essentially participate with older athletes to ensure an equal physical playing field. This sometimes provided challenges as I was less seasoned than my opponents who often had between 1 and 2 years additional experience under their belt. While sometimes frustrating, this reality forced me to develop resiliency, and perseverance. I participate in many sports, but football has consistently been my preference and I welcome the brotherhood and comradery that the development of a cohesive team environment garners. I have been a 4 time Virginia state champion football player, peaking as the 4th place team at the AYF National tournament in 2017. The drive to achieve more as an individual, and a team is a constant motivator.

I predominantly act as a Center and Defensive Tackle, I enjoy playing on both sides of the ball. As a Center, initiating each offensive play allows me to feel involved, and gives me a sense of control to launch each play successfully. It is my intention to play football throughout high school and at the collegiate level. My greatest attributes lie in my ability to get along with anyone, I make friends easily and I am exceptionally coachable. I take constructive criticism to heart and never cease to attempt to improve. I don’t let criticism bruise my good natured attitude. I understand that my coaches are helping me better myself, and it’s my ownership and investment that will ultimately make me into the best athlete I can be. The commitment, loyalty, resiliency, and sense of ownership I possess will allow me to succeed both academically and athletically at the next level.
