The highlight of my football career, to date, was kicking the game-winning field goal, in overtime, to win the City Championship. Ironically, the lowest point of my career, was the week prior when we came very close to upsetting the top rated team in our district. Going from the low to the high, in back-to-back weeks, helped me understand how to work through adversity, learn from previous events, and make the most of my given opportunities. When I started playing football in the seventh grade, I knew my position would be full of stress and pressure. Experiencing such events has helped me embrace those qualities and helped me gain confidence in my skills.
I consider myself a leader, whether or not my coach labels me as a 'Captain'. I know the value of commitment, sacrifice, and teamwork. I am interested in a program that not only emphasizes these same values, but is also academically challenging. I want to be part of a program that instills and appreciates hard work, dedication, and personal growth both on and off the field. I am confident I have the skills and qualities to play at the next level, further my education, and attain my degree.
