Personal Statement
My name is Justin Snavely. I am a senior at George Wythe High School in Wytheville, VA. The positions that I play are Outside Linebacker, Middle Linebacker, and Running Back. Although these are the positions I play the most, I am skilled and flexible enough to play almost any position on the field.
My personal philosophy is to do whatever it takes to get the job done, or in this case the game won. I have a strong work ethic as well as being physically and mentally strong. I have been preparing for the game of football since I was in 3rd grade. I am 5 ft 11 in, I weigh 205 pounds, I run a 4.68 40, 4.27 20 yd shuttle, I have a 29 in vertical, I have a 9ft 3in broad jump, I can bench press 335, squat 480, and hang clean 270.
I attended the Brad Hoover Sports International Football Camp for four years. Three of those years I took away top honors. I won best Running Back, best Linebacker, and the Brad Hoover award for Best All-Around Player. I was 2nd team all district last year and was also Bojangles player of the week in our county. I have attended football camps at Emory and Henry, Appalachian State, University of VA, James Madison University, and Wake Forest. I have also attended Speed and Agility Camps as well as Speed and Athletic Ability Camps. I have also completed the Bigger, Faster, Stronger clinic held at my high school. At every camp or clinic that I have attended the coaches have remarked what a “coachable” and “talented” athlete I am. These words of praise are what I am most proud of. I am the Go-To Guy, and I am proud of earning that title.
The player that I look up to the most is Larry McCoy, who plays for Duquesne. He is from Wytheville, and I have spent two summers working out and training with him on top of my regular team workout. He is a very talented athlete and his encouragement and belief in me has helped me to become a better athlete.
I am a well rounded player with good grades and strong family ties. As a self-motivator, I am always pushing to be better and learn more. I like to travel, watch the Discovery and History channels, and I enjoy fishing and hunting.
I am looking for a college with majors in either physical sciences, business, or law. I have no preference as to whether the school is in a large city, or in the country somewhere. School size isn’t particularly a big deal either, all that matters to me is furthering my education in the best way possible, and furthering sports into college.
