My name is Josh Brown. I am currently 6’6” and weigh 240. I am a senior at Colfax High School. I will be graduating in 2015 after lettering all four years at Colfax. I earned a starting position as a sophomore at left offensive tackle and have held it through my senior year. I have also started as a defensive tackle and end for the last three years. I have been the long snapper all four years, so I basically come off the field at the quarter and halftime. I am one of the first players to ever be named as a captain for two years in a row at our school.
I have been a leader in our weight room, our locker room, on the practice field and on game day. I would be called more of the “quiet leader” type because I believe in letting my actions speak before my mouth does. I have worked to have a reputation that is a man of integrity, hard work, and unquestionable character.
I am a student of film and learning my opponent. I work hard physically and mentally in order to beat him. I believe our small school has given me an advantage because I get to play both sides of the ball and have learned the skills to be better whichever position I am playing.
I also compete in track in the field events, with discus being my best event. I placed 8th and 6th in the State Championship during my sophomore and junior years. I am 5” away from setting a new school record and that is my goal this spring.
Off the field, I am involved in FFA, the school play, youth groups and helping in my mom’s elementary classroom. During the summers since my 8th grade year, I have worked for a local farmer, repairing fence, spraying weeds, driving trucks and equipment, welding, cleaning and everything else!
My life experiences have given me a great work ethic and my parents have taught me integrity and respect, as well.
I want to play football at the next level and continue to be a team player. I am excited to see what else I can learn at your program that I will use for the rest of my life.
