"How HUNGRY are you?" Those were the words I heard in my senior year in high school. They still resonate today. I'm a sophomore at College of the Siskiyous and I will complete my AA degree in psychology in May, 2019. My parents have been my greatest inspiration. I have two older siblings attending the University of Washington. My father continues to work hard so we can get the best education. My mother had to sacrifice her nursing school to care for my grandparents. I grew up helping my mother care for my grandparents. Sports and academics were a challenge in high school as I learned to balance everything. I was grateful and blessed when I was recruited by College of the Siskiyous. Since I left home, I continue to learn to be independent and accountable. My goal is to transfer to a university to pursue my BA degree in Psychology. Hopefully, I can earn a football scholarship. I am no stranger to hard-work. I have the utmost respect for my coaches. I have tasted defeat after grueling workouts. Sometimes it's hard to swallow. However, I choose to let it ignite a fire. Yes, I am HUNGRY! I have learned that my character is not defined by a scoreboard. Character is a by-product of growth, humility and perseverance. My father would always tell me, "Son, let your game speak for itself on the field" and my mother would hug and remind me, "play hard and play smart". As I search for the ideal fit, I want to be a part of an institute that supports my academic and athletic goals. I want to be a part of a university that promotes academic excellence, community and global research. One day, I will give back to the community and when that day comes, I will have fulfilled it because I was hungry enough to finish strong.
