My name is Sean Hyland, I am 17 years old and I am a 4.0 Student Athlete with a strong moral code who lettered in Varsity Football as a Sophomore & Junior (2012 State for Football, 3rd in state), as well as lettered in Varsity Track (sprinter) as a Freshman, Sophomore (2013 State for Track, 5th in state). I am a coachable "team first" player who is interested in doing whatever it takes to help my team win.
I am a Wide Receiver and Defensive Back for Mount Si High School. In my 2012 sophomore season I lettered in Varsity Football. In 2012 Our team earned 3rd in State only losing to Bellevue HS who was ranked #1 in the country (Sports Illustrated). 2012, Sophomore year, I also started two ways on JV as a Wide Receiver and a Defensive Back while also earning my varsity letter. Our 2012 team was loaded with talented seniors and juniors ahead of me so as a sophomore I had to wait for major varsity time (11 of our seniors are playing college football in 2013). My junior year, this last 2013 season, I was sidelined with an injury and therefore did not play much so I could regain strength for my 2014 Senior year. The good news is I am now fully healed and coming back STRONG and FAST for the 2014 season and I am training hard in the off season. In the past our team has competed in the 3A Kingco League which is the toughest 3A league in the State of Washington. This next season, 2014, my senior year, our school will move up to 4A, the ultimate league in Washington State Football.
In February 2014, my team and I competed in the NW Elite Passing league 7on7. Over 4 weeks, we went against some of the toughest teams in the Seattle/King County area. We won the series Championship. I competed as a Receiver and a Defensive Back.
In April 2014, I attended the Kirkland Barton Football Combine to update my stats. At this camp I earned MVP for the receiver group. My 40 yard laser time was 4.72, the fastest at the combine. The director of the combine told me that converted to a 4.47 hand time. I had a 38" vertical jump. My shuttle was 4.31.
I am also a Varsity Track athlete who took 5th in state in 2013.
I have been training with the varsity starter team. I train year round for football, even on those cold, wet December mornings. In the off season, I attend lots of throw arounds, jugs machine training and 7on7's with team mates. I also attend training with the Barton Football Academy and Gervais Football camps throughout the off season. I am a hardworking and dedicated student athlete and give my best both in the classroom and on the field. I maintain a 4.0 GPA as a student while also spending time in the weight-room and out on the field.
Football Goals: I have many goals for my athletic career. #1 Goal - be the best team player that I can be, accepting coaches input/criticism, learning from it, incorporating it into my training so that I can continue to reach for my highest potential. The ultimate goal I have is to play college football. This has been a dream of mine ever since I started playing football in the sixth grade. I love the game of football so I will consider playing anywhere and at any level and will do my personal best to help the team I am on any way I can.
Academics/Giving Back/Integrity: 4.0 Cumulative GPA, National Honor Society Member. I am one of a few high school students who attended the top ranked 2013 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston. I was also selected by my school to attend the 2013 Washington Leadership Camp. I am active in school Leadership and ASB and I have been voted in as the 2014-2015 ASB Treasurer. I enjoy sports, math and science. I have a mind for memorizing/analyzing sports statistics. I am looking for a college with a good math, science and engineering department and if they have a communications or sports marketing program that is a plus. However, not yet sure on my major, I am open to talking with any college in the USA. In addition to maintaining a 4.0, I am in the honors math and science program, AP History, I am a member of the National Honors Society, I tutor, and I run my own lawn mowing business. I am engaged in my education and will give it my all in the classroom, as I do on the field, and try to be a positive member of your university. I also believe in giving back so I volunteer for the North Bend Helping Hands Food Bank monthly since 2011 and various other organizations. I have over 65 volunteer hours in the last 2 years. My dad is a teacher and my mom runs a daycare so I have been raised with a strong moral code so I will represent myself and your university with class, dignity, and respect.
