Hello,
My name is Bradford Corder Jr. I am currently a senior at Yelm High School, even though having only played 3 years of football my heart and passion has finally found a sport that I live and breathe. I have played basketball all my life and still do, yet my desire for football burns far deeper then basketball ever could. Starting football my freshman year I've picked up a lot of technique and skill from camps and my coaches. The past two years have been very difficult for my academic advancement and after school behavior, being that my mom is in the military and was deployed for a full year leaving me with a ton of alone time and no one really to keep me on track. My sophomore and junior year I would say were my worst years academically, falling into trouble and poor execution. My coach Ronquillo has been the biggest supporter and motivator I have on keeping my head up, moving on, and learning. No one including Coach, or my parents have to worry about what I’m doing or if I’m going to be a liability for the team. My focus, determination and positive attitude, in my opinion has strengthened my resolve and allowed me to put myself in a better position to succeed. I will not let my past mistakes dictate my future, and my desire is to continue in a positive direction doing whatever it takes for the team and my supporters. I can guarantee a dramatic change in my grades this year, as I have been going the extra mile, and keeping up with my homework and studies. One of my major goals is to play football on a collegiate level, not only to play, but to play well, yet I also understand I need an education. I plan on becoming an engineer because personally I feel working with my hands is the best way to earn your buck. My back up plan is to become an HVAC mechanic working on commercial heating-cooling and ventilation like my father. I really feel like I will make a great candidate for a team because I have made mistakes and paid the price for them. Knowing what I know, moving forward, I feel like I would not have the desire to fall into the pitfalls that some college freshmen might be faced with. I feel that given the chance I would continue to excel personally, academically, as well as athletically. I also believe that good coaches would enjoy having me on their team because I am extremely coachable. Since I have played football 3 years, I have not been bought up with “old bad habits”. My mind is an open sponge ready to learn more and more about my position, and the game over all.
