My name is Conner Watts and I am from Hurricane, WV. I am a 2016 graduate of Hurricane High School. My GPA this semester is 3.75 and cumulative 3.5. I just finished my Junior Football season at Hurricane High and we finished the regular season #10 in the state as a AAA school. On offense, I started all 10 games, 5 games at receiver and 5 games at running back. I also returned kicks the second half of the season. On defense, I started all 10 games and rotated among 4 positions; safety, cornerback, inside linebacker, and outside linebacker. I am currently 5”11”, 185 lbs. and still growing!
Getting a quality college education is my first priority. I believe my love for football and my desire for a great education fits well together. The structure and discipline that a well run college football team offers is what I desire. I want to be a part of a program that puts education first and football second. Structured study times, availability of academic advisors, tutoring etc... are extremely important to me. Of course, playing the game I love and contributing to the team to win is also a top priority!
In 2014, as an all purpose back/receiver, I led the team in touchdowns with 12. I also led all running backs and receivers in all purpose yards with 1187, 118.7 per game. Even though I split time, 5 games at running back and 5 at receiver, I led all backs in rushing yards and was second in receiving yards. My average yards per car was 7.56. On defense, I had 36 solo tackles and 61 total. Even though it was my first year at Hurricane, I was voted as one of 4 captains, the only Junior, by the coaches.
In college, I would like to play slot receiver, but am willing to play at any skill position. My ability to work well in traffic, take a hit, and make yards after the catch make me ideal for slot. My best attributes are my ability to play multiple positions and my desire to never be out worked!
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Sincerely,
Conner Watts, #2, Hurricane High School
