I have played basketball since the age of 6. However, I did not start off as the best player on the team. After not receiving much playing time during one of my games I was upset and did not understand why I could not play longer. It was at that moment when I realized that being tall was not going to make me the best player. Immediately, I began to pick up knowledge from my father and sister who both participated in collegiate level basketball. I can recall long afternoons where I practiced with my dad and sister hours and hours the day before my youth basketball games. After a while those late day practices eventually paid off. I begin to take the lead on my basketball teams as a young child always working hard to be the best team player and motivator on the court.
It was that dedication to basketball that gave me the opportunity to gain a spot on St. Luke's Episcopal School's Junior Varsity team while only in the seventh grade. I continued to establish great sportsmanship and hard-work at St. Luke's. The following year I was honored to participate on the Varsity Basketball team as a team starter. As a freshman, I've gained the upper-hand at being more educated in what tools are needed to become a better basketball player. While demonstrating a strong work ethic, high basketball IQ, and my passion for the game, I plan to surpass all obstacles to get to the next level. There is no limit to how great you can be because there is always room to grow. I will be the best player I can be as I get better each and every day. Most importantly I've learned to never quit no matter how hard life is knocking you down or in basketball terms how many times you get elbowed.
