I am Marlon Devon Stabler, Jr. I am a 16 year old young man who still makes mistakes and am still willing to learn. I have grown up in a two parent home, with three older sisters and have had a long distance relationship with my older brother who lived with his Dad. When I was in the 3rd Grade I became the manager (water, towels, videography, scorekeeper, and biggest fan) for the Varsity Basketball Team of my area high school, where I continued until I became a Varsity Player myself. Every year I had fifteen brothers, but one brother became a huge inspiration to me. He was the one who made me want to play and I try to model my game after him daily. At 5’8” he was an undersized player, with a massive vertical, and could dunk like Spud Webb. Unfortunately, he never got to see me play high school basketball because he passed away in a car accident on June 11, 2020 at the age of twenty-one.
I play basketball because I love the game and would love to play it for as long as I can. Every time I step onto the court I am overwhelmed with happiness, and I always do my best to make all of my people proud. Defense is my favorite side of the ball and I can’t wait to get the rebound. I practice extensively developing my athleticism, my 3-point and inside shots, and I believe I excel at my free throws. I work hard for my coaches and teachers, and I am always proud of my teammates no matter where I have had to cheer them on from.
