Hi my name is Jalen shepard and I’m a junior in high school. I’ve always been better than most kids when it came to athletics, when I was younger it drove me to play many different sports and work hard so I could always have that edge on other kids no matter the sport I played. The people around me are a big reason why I am the player I am today, I’m competitive, strong minded, and driven to be the best athlete I can humanly possibly be, I strive to make it to the top.
In the 8th grade was my first year ever playing basketball, I found interest in basketball through a group of friends who were always playing basketball at this old broken down goal down the street, as I became better friends with them I played more and more and developed a passion for the game of basketball. They soon lead me to play on an auu team which for some one who never played this sport before this was a challenge, but it wasn’t a challenge I would back down from. I barely made the team, but with hard work and dedication in my first year of basketball I became the teams leading scorer and rebounder averaging almost a double double a game. Then I soon went on to play middle school ball with my friends at the end of the season winning best rebounder and then in high school ball winning best offense for the past two years. Playing this sport taught me what It ment to be disciplined and a dedicated player and even how to work hard in the class room I realized I don’t only wanna be the best on the court but the best in the classroom and attend college hopefully with some type of scholar ship athletic or academic. I love basketball because being from a family with limited income it always gave me drive to get better and exceed expectations. In conclusion basketball has helped me become a well rounded and strong individual.
