Zander Merideth '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Zander Merideth and I am 6´3” and currently play the positions of: power forward, small forward and shooting guard.      I´ve been playing organized basketball since I was 7 years old, but I have always had LOVE for the game. Coming from a bigger family, I am the oldest of FOUR BOYS! With that, comes a lot of love, playing, competition, teamwork and responsibility. My parents have always kept me and my brothers busy in sports (coaching too) and taught us the importance of being a “student-athlete”, “student” being the first word in that equation! 

Since the beginning of my highschool basketball career I have overcome many obstacles and persevered through A LOT of transitions. Turnovers in coaching staff, the pandemic, changing schools mid-sophomore year and transitioning to homeschool, starting a new basketball team, AAU team (30 games my junior year), more staff turnovers, then I had the privilege of entering into the basketball club circuit world (20+ games this season). It has been one heck of a ride so far! But I have LEARNED and EXCELLED because of ALL of this! I have become a stronger player in the areas that I was once weak in because I have had to demonstrate versatility and play in positions my coaches and team needed me in. I have greater endurance, speed, agility, accuracy, strength, determination, sportsmanship and leadership because I have pushed (and been pushed) out of my comfort zone many times to help me be a better man and athlete. 

NOW, this has all led up to some current achievements/goals of: increasing my vert and now being able to DUNK, as well as being able to participate in this summer’s WCEBBall 2022 elite international championship events out of state! I am humbled and grateful to be where I am today.

I am looking for a program that values my work ethic, coachability, one that embraces the idea of “basketball team family” mentality and puts it into play. A place where I can continue to grow as a student-athlete and work towards my academic goals while thriving as an athlete. I believe that I have the passion, the talent and the drive needed to compete for a college team, make a positive impact and help take US to the next level as a team!
