My name is Carson C. White; a former two sport athlete: Basketball/Football. I am currently a Senior at Desert Vista High School (6A) located in Phoenix, Arizona. Following COVID's impact on our school; during my sophomore year, our basketball program was put into additional chaos when our entire basketball coaching staff quit three days before the 2020-21 season.
Now, starting my Senior season; we have gone through three head coaches in the same number of years and are currently searching for a new head coach for this season. The basketball program is trying to find its bearings, I have been approached by other school to transfer but my sense of loyalty has kept me here to complete my brother's legacy to a school that I love. I have found it necessary to find outside ways to continue improving my game so that my desire to play basketball after high school and beyond can become a reality.
In addition to my regular practice and workouts, I have dedicated all of my off-season time over the last two seasons to train with professionals in weight, skills, and speed training to assure that I am ready to play at the next level when the opportunity presents itself. I maintain a weighted GPA of (4.3) in my scheduled classes which consist of all Honors Classes, and thanks to remote learning at home during COVID, I am now ahead in credits.
This past AAU season, I was able to train under former NBA player Isaiah Rider and I was able to play for the first-time during Section - 7 and Live Periods. I have dealt with many challenges over the last few years, however; I always strive to stay positive, work hard and turn things around. I lost my older brother when I was nine years old, he was a freshman in high school at (Desert Vista, where I currently attend). The loss of my older brother has made me appreciate life and to strive to never give up. While my height is definitely a blessing, I have gained twelve inches of height within a four-year span. This has caused an enormous amount of growing pains that I learned to play through, many of the things that I have had to deal with would have derailed others' positive outlook. Yet, I step in faith through God, who strengthens me. I appreciate your consideration.
