Basketball has always been very important to me because I have played all my life and through challenges, dedication, and patience it has taught me what makes a good leader. Also, a good leader is a learner and team player that helps make success possible. As captain of Mark Keppel basketball team, I've learned that building trust, being encouraging and reflective, and 100% dedication towards the program are valuable to any team. I can be a positive candidate for any college team.
My college plans are to attend a four year university to earn a bachelor's degree in business and masters in business administration or finance. I would like to use my knowledge of business and combine it with my interest in technology. Someday, I would like to work for companies like Google, Bank of America, or AT&T.
Throughout my life I have faced many challenges and obstacles but one of my life changing impact is my younger brother was born with intellectual delay, autism, and epilepsy. This challenge has affected my academic achievement by teaching me how certain challenges require much extra effort and persistence. Giving up is the easy way out and does not help you move forward but only backwards. In other words, my experiences with my brother has showed me how important it is to continue to attempt to learn in school no matter how difficult the information or situation. In order to learn and anything, I always try my best, practice, and ask for help without feeling awkward. Balancing my role of an involved older brother, the demands of school and basketball has prepared me for any academic achievement challenges in the future.
