Before my junior year, I wasn’t sure if I had what it took to become a college basketball player. My sophomore year was challenging. I suffered an avulsion fracture on my hip and was only able to play in four games. However, the off-season between my sophomore and junior years became a turning point. I grew tremendously emotionally and physically and had a strong summer with my AAU team. Through this period of development, I realized that I could play college basketball at a high level and that I am determined to push myself to compete at the highest level possible.
During my junior season, I had a standout year with my school’s basketball team, leading in nearly every statistical category. After the season, I committed to further enhancing my skills. I started a weightlifting program to improve my strength and ability to drive to the basket and do daily intensive workouts to expand my overall game.
In the summer of 2024, I joined the Elev8 National team, where I continued to develop into a stronger, more explosive, and versatile player. In my senior year, I had an even more dominant season. I was once again the team captain and led the team in every stat kept for the team. I ran the offense and was the leader on defense, always across from the toughest player on the opposing team. At the end of the season, I was ranked #47 in the state for leading scorers and was the second person ever in my school's history to have over 1,000 points.
Now that the season is over, I have started again with my weight trainer to continue to get stronger. Elev8 asked me to come back and join their elite team, which is where I think I will play this summer. I am looking forward to the next step in college basketball.
A college coach asked me if I was open to going back east for college. I told him that I go to the East Coast several times a year to visit family. I have grown up skiing and enjoying hot—and cold-weather activities, and I am eager for the next chapter in my life. My father said to me many times that his goal was to give me roots and wings; it is now time to fly.
