Ejere Okorie '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ejere Okorie. I am a high school junior,  6'1 forward and small guard for the Fontana High School Steelers basketball team. I have been playing with varsity basketball team since the beginning of my freshman year and have been a starter since the summer of my sophomore year. I pride myself in my defence primarily in a man to man match up and also am solid in my help defence. I don't mind doing the dirty work and do not hesitate to give up my body in taking charges. I am looking forward to continuing  playing basketball in college as well as furthering my education. I currently have an unweighted GPA of 3.54 and planning on raising it even higher than what it is now. 

As far as the school I want to attend, I am looking at UCLA as the first school of my choice for a variety of reasons. 2 of the main reasons are, they offer  and have specialized majors that I am interested in and they have great basketball program in which i wish to be a part of. I know my GPA is a little short of their expectations, but I have made up for that by making myself to be a well-rounded person. I have participated in over  200hours of community service since the summer of my 7th grade year and I have participated in many academic clubs and competitions aside from my studies. I participate in community activities whenever time permits, having good reputation and stature among those I come in contact with.
