Isaiah Hill '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Isaiah Hill.  I am a 17 year-old junior attending Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo High School located in Long Beach, CA.  As a young child, I knew I wanted to play professional basketball after watching NBA games on television.  So, I made the decision to play at Jesse Owens Parks and Recreation, located in Los Angeles, CA.   I played eight years for Jesse Owens, but four of those years I played travel basketball, participating in numerous tournaments.  However, my journey has not been an easy one.  At one point, I thought my dreams of playing basketball was fading away.  My former Parks and Recreation coach would tell me all the time I was not a good player and I would not make it.  He told me I wouldn’t even make it on the basketball team.  He told me I was nothing; I was too timid, soft, and not aggressive enough.  A few of my former teachers told me I would not graduate from high school or go to college.  Ever since, I have been working hard and I see my work is paying off.  I started Varsity in my sophomore year, averaging 15 points a game.  My school is not a good team; however, I go out on the court each game and give it my all.  When I am in the locker room and I put on that jersey, I am a new person.  I am a leader on and off the court.  I am focused winning.  I am not a selfish player.  I play against the best players but I dominate every time.  Unfortunately, social media who follow high school basketball in Long Beach only want to follow or show highlights from the best schools or players.  I am not a cocky or arrogant player but I have something to prove.  I let my game do the talking and I want to silence the people who have doubted or continue to doubt me.  I am here to win and I hope you are too.  So, with that being said, I hope I am a good fit for your team.
