I began my basketball journey at a very young age of 7. However, it was not until my 7th grade year that I truly became passionate about the game. One of the reasons why I fell in love is because I learn something new about it everyday. There will never be a time where I will know everything about basketball. I consider myself better at defense than offense, although, I do command a presence in the paint and perimeter. Rebounding, not turning the ball over, blocking, and diving for 50/50 balls are some of the other things that I do well. I relate my game mostly to Pau Gasol of the Chicago Bulls and Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. Pau Gasol because he uses the jump hook better than any other center in the league, which is my preferred shot. Dirk Nowitzki because he attacks the basket by driving and shooting from the 15 foot line extended. Even though I am not one of the captain's on the varsity team, I take control and help out verbally as much as possible. For example, calling out screens against my teammate, yelling for the ball when I am posting up, and getting them pumped up to make a 4th quarter comeback. During practices I bring the team moral up because of my witty humor.
Off the court some of the classes I am interested in are science and English to an extent. I understand that being a student-athlete means to put as much or more effort in the classroom as I do in the basketball gym. Other interests I have outside of basketball and school are fishing, camping, hiking, and body surfing.
