I grew up knowing that success does not come easy. I watched my father leave for work every day with the understanding that in order to meet goals and to make dreams happen, you had to work every day. Nothing got handed to me. So, when I was six and fell in love with basketball, I knew that being a star player would not be immediately granted to me. I needed to work at what I loved in order to be the best. I believe firmly in practice makes perfect. Lebron James works hard to be the best in this sport, and to be able to maintain my fitness and to grow as an athlete, I also need to dedicate myself to basketball.
My family is what has helped me and cheered me on all these years. Even when I felt like there was too much to juggle with life and school and basketball, they were the ones motivating me and telling me to push on. Above all, my family comes first, because they have always been there for me. After them, there is nothing but basketball. I was gifted with the height of 6’3”, which makes it easy to play basketball, but it is really my heart and passion that makes this sport the one for me. I should play for your team because I know the meaning of hard work, dedication and supporting family, and my teammates are family.
I am looking for a college where I can find the right balance between the classroom and court. I would like to pursue a junior college, cal state, or university with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of architecture to follow in my mom's footstep. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team. I believe my best fit would be at the NCAA Low DI or high DII or NAIA level 1.
Thank you so much for your time and I appreciate that you came to visit my profile.
Best,
Jeylen
