Webster's definition of passion is "an intense desire or enthusiasm for something". From the age of three, after receiving a Fisher Price Basketball hoop for Christmas, that intense desire has consumed my world. The strategy, intensity, achievement, and family formed with the basketball team has kept me coming back for more. Not receiving the musical genes present in my family, I found my home and myself on the basketball court. After hours of shooting hoops with the neighbors older kids, I begged my parents to enroll me into Peewee Basketball at age 4, when they wanted to sign me up for ballet with my older sisters. That drive and determination to play the game has pushed me to strive to be the best I can be and thus resulted in being awarded MVP my eighth grade year, moved up to Varsity my sophomore of high school, participating in AAU, and many years of summer league. Due to my determination to play and be an asset to my team, I have been building up my strength this summer through working out daily with a strengthening class and scrimmaging at the YMCA. Being a reliable team player is another goal I value. Another asset is that I thrive on coaches directions and the importance of respect of the coaches decisions/leadership. Going into my Senior year, I hope to display leadership as team captain and lead my team to be the league champions. I value working hard academically as last year I had 3.8 GPA with Honors courses and strive to be a student who excels both in the classroom and on the court. I am a determined, reliable, flexible, team player, who wants to learn all he can. Please consider me as a candidate for your program.
