Joshua Burton '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Josh Burton, and I am a 6’5”, 185 pound small forward/wing player from Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, Ca. I consider myself to be a team-oriented player who is just as willing to pass the basketball to an open teammate as well as score the basketball myself. Offensively I am a good perimeter shooter and passer, and I am improving each day on mid-range opportunities and getting to the basket more often. I am working hard to improve my ball handling skills to complete my offensive game. I am also working on adding bulk and muscle to my frame.

I am an excellent all-around defensive player and I take pride in my ability to play “team” defense. I am frequently in help situations where I use my length to block shots and deflect passes. I can also rebound and I like to get out on the fast-break.            

This year will be my third year on the varsity at Patrick Henry and I feel that I have matured greatly as a basketball player through the process. This past season I was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team for basketball. Academically my grade point average has been at or above 3.0 my entire high school career. My preference at this time is to attend college in the Southern California area, but I remain open to all opportunities. I am a coach’s player who is looking for the right fit academically as well as on the basketball court. My future aspirations include coaching at the collegiate level.
