Personal Statement

My name is Gokul and I am a 6'0 point guard or shooting guard attending Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, California. My collegiate goal is to play college basketball at an elite academic school where I can get one of the best educations in the world as well as fulfill my dreams of playing college basketball. In the classroom, I maintained an unweighted 4.0 GPA both my freshman and sophomore year. My sophomore year I had a 4.5 weighted GPA and took two honors and one AP class, and am taking two AP and two honors classes junior year, earning a 4.67 weighted GPA first semester. I strive to be a leader on and off the court, demanding the best from my teammates. On the basketball court, I can provide a lot for a team. I feel like my strongest suit is on the defensive end of the floor. I am a very versatile defender who can guard any position from the point guard to the power forward. My sophomore season I played out of position on the varsity team and started as the power forward guarding people 4 to 5 inches taller than me regularly. I can keep almost any guard in front of me and play aggressively with intensity. On the offensive end, I am a willing passer who can knock down the three ball on a consistent basis. I am not afraid of contact and love getting to the rim and the free throw line, where I am a consistent shooter.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
