CONNOR’S PERSONAL STATEMENT
My name is Connor Lanz and I'm a senior captain at Bear Creek High School in Stockton, California. I play basketball as a combo shooting and point guard at Bear Creek High School as well as with my Stockton Panthers 17U AAU basketball team out of Stockton, CA. During my first game senior year at Bear Creek, I made 7/12 three pointers, breaking the school record of 166. I currently have 169 three pointers for my career. During my 2018-19 campaign, my team played in the Mark Gallo Central Catholic Invitational and I was a first team all-tourney selection. During the 4 tournament games, I averaged 23.5 points per game and made 10, 4, 5, and 7 three pointers, setting a tourney record with 26 total three pointers. My sophomore season I started over a 2 year senior starter, averaged 10.2 points per game, and helped guide my team while making 65 three pointers, setting a school sophomore starting shooting guard record. Since our 2018-19 season ended, I have the single season 3 point record, in the history of the Bear Creek High School, netting 97 three pointers, 162 total 3 pointers in my 2 years at varsity. After the 2018-19 season, the coaches voted me 2nd team all-league. I improved in each category possible averaging 14.9 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists per game, a 75% free throw percentage, and 45% from 2 point range. During the Reno 2019 Memorial AAU basketball tournament, I averaged 19 points with scores of 27, 15, 15, 23, and 15. I was voted the MVP on my 2019 AAU basketball team. During the Stanislaus State Basketball Tournament, I averaged 24.5 points per game with 21, 25, 25, and 27 points going 3-1. The confidence I have is what it takes to help your basketball program continue its winning tradition. I've been playing basketball since I was 4 years old and I enjoy lifting weights and pushing my body to the extreme. For instance, I lift weights 4 to 5 days a week, shoot for an hour daily, and workout with a trainer who is the starting point guard of Team Trouble in Stockton, CA. Wanting to play college basketball while earning my Bachelor of Science degree in land surveying/civil engineering are my collegiate goals. I won a land surveying trig-star contest my junior year. My current 3.71 GPA ranks me at 75 out of 521 in my senior class. I have had a successful high school career to date and intend on furthering my high school experiences in a positive direction and throughout my lifetime.
