Hello Coach. My name is Landon Nattrass. Any coach of mine will tell you about my work ethic, determination, and love for the game. At this point in my life basketball IS my life so why not attempt to become the best at it? Basketball has made me in to the man that I am today in that I am not willing to loose or give up. It's taught me to fight even when the team is down 15 with 2 minutes to go. I value family in my life, and exude confidence and pride, but not too much. The game has taught me to control my emotions and to channel them toward a goal. Wether I'm excited to be playing in my first High School game or nervous about loosing in the play offs, I'm able to channel that towards my game and helping the team win. I've give so much praise to the game when I really should be giving Praise to the Trainers, Coaches, Teachers, Mentors, and Parents who have all helped me alike by teaching me lessons in and outside of Basketball. I am very receptive to genuine people whom when they try to speak to me or teach me something I catch it in an instant and am able to perform and better myself with their guidance. I want to play Basketball in College because I don't want my journey to end in H.S. I want to keep making friends, brothers, and meeting Mentors through the game I love dearly. I want to continue giving basketball my all because while it's my life, I want to attempt to be the best at it. Some things my team mates might tell you about me is I try my best to be a team guy. I always encourage my team mates and make sure they're in control of their emotions. In practice I push every single person in the gym to go their hardest because if your worse day is during practice, that means your best day will be in a game. I pump them up pre-game and make sure they're in the zone by the time that buzzer rings for tip off. On and off the court I try to lead by example for my brothers younger and older. I always put family first, then academics, basketball, and friends. I give the classroom my all; working for the best grades I can possibly get. I've been a grinder all my life. My father is a entrepreneur and my family knows what it's like to work from lows to highs. My father is my greatest mentor as he was also a Collegiate level Speed Skater in Canada and almost made it to the Olympics. He looks after me and teaches me many lessons. I aspire to be half the grinder he was in life. My mother has taught me the importrance of keeping yourself surrounded by good people and taking care of your body. I ice daily after each workout and have a largely green nutrition thanks to my mom. Without her I wouldn't be as in control of my mind and body. I look to my coaches, teachers, and mentors the same way; respected individuals who want to help me succeed in whatever I am doing. Likewise I want to help them succeed. If Coach needs a guy to go in and get a rebound - I'm the guy. If he needs someone to lock up the kid averaging 28 ppg - I'm the guy. If he needs someone to take a Charge - I got 3 of my teeth dented in taking charge!! Part of being a team player is doing whatever it takes to help the team win! I WILL do whatever it takes within the rules of the game of course. I apologize for this being quite lengthy; I just felt like there's a lot you should know about me and why I'll be of valuable puzzle piece to your program. Thank you for your time today Coach. I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Landon Nattrass
