I love basketball. If I could be in the gym all day every day playing basketball I would be. When we go on trips, I always see where the closest rec center is and make it a priority to get in the gym. I am constantly working on improving my game. I watch a lot of basketball at all levels to see what I need to be doing to improve. I like to find a move and work on it until I am able to use it successfully in a game, then I find the next thing to work on. My favorite position is point guard or wing. I like the freedom of being able to draw defenders out to open up my teammates to pass to them. I also like surprising teams when they see a 6'5" player drive the ball and dunk or shoot a three. I think it is great when everyone is willing to work together on a team. I believe in encouraging my teammates. Everyone will mess up in a game and we all need to remember to keep trying because giving up is not an option. I work with two trainers on my offensive and defensive skills, dribbling, shooting, game shots and moves, and lifting weights. I am eager to learn. I am a team player. I know that basketball is more than just the baskets you get in. It is important to utilize your teammates so the team can succeed- not just the player. I am very enthusiastic about the game. I believe that God gave me the ability to play basketball as an opportunity to share His love and encouragement with others. It is easy to get along with teammates when you are winning, but it takes character to get along with your team after a loss. I think it is important to critique your own game first before you think about what your team did wrong. Everyone is going to have an off game. It is up to the team to make the adjustments if they notice someone is "cold."
I work hard on and off the court. I have a 4.0 GPA. I have lettered 3 years, started 2 years, and I was Captain and FRCAA All Star my junior year. My goal is to play basketball in college while getting my degree and then go to the NBA. I am willing to put in the work to make my dreams come true. I have been blessed to have coaches, trainers, and my family that all believe in me. I am that player that has said no to hanging out with friends because I need to and want to get in more basketball time. I try my best to put God first, then family, then basketball and academics.
