My name is Radek Homer, and I am a Senior at Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, CO. We are 7-0 and the #1 ranked 6A team in the state. I am the Point Guard and Captain of this team, and am currently the #14 ranked player in Colorado.
LEADER
As the Captain of Mountain Vista, I lead with both my voice and by example. I’m a vocal leader who continually talks to my teammates, whether that be directing them during game play, or encouraging them when they make a mistake. In practice when we make mistakes and have to run I lead by always finishing first, no matter how tired I am.
STATS
I am an extremely well-rounded player, and rank either first or second on my team in five key categories:
- Steals: 2.9 pg – 1st
- Assists: 4.7 pg – 1st
- Points: 12 pg – 2nd
- Rebounds: 6.6 pg – 2nd
- FG %: 53% - 2nd (minimum 21 shots)
OFFENSE
I run the offense at Vista, and use my quickness to get by defenders. My athletic ability catches people off guard, and my vertical and solid frame allow me to finish around the rim with either hand. If defenders slide to pick me up I find my teammates for easy buckets. After I go by defenders a few times defenders tend to back off, and that's when I use my jumper.
DEFENSE
As much as I like offense, I absolutely love defense. I am a shutdown defender that loves to pressure ball handlers, and when I am off ball am prepared to help if my teammates get beat. I fill passing lanes, get steals and deflections, and convert those turnovers into fast break points – whether finishing myself or attracting defenders and dishing to my teammates.
WORK ETHIC
I would put my work ethic up against any player in the country. Last summer I injured the elbow on my shooting arm and wasn’t able to compete in game action for six months. During that stretch I dedicated my days to increasing my skill dribbling and shooting with my off hand, and also working out my legs. The result is that I’m strong dribbling and shooting with both hands, and now have a 41-inch vertical.
Off the court I’m a hard worker as well, and I carry a 3.7 GPA in school. I plan to major in Physical Therapy in college.
Thank you for reviewing my profile, and for considering me for your basketball program. I’m excited to play college basketball, and am confident wherever I play will be happy to have me on the team!
