Hi Coach,
I have had a passion and love for basketball since I was 6. I have worked hard ever since to be the best guard/player. I have done basketball training daily/weekly to improve my fundamental skills in dribbling, passing, and team point guard skills. I study videos on how to be a great point guard. After my 6th grade season, my dad encouraged me to change my shot, as I shot the ball from my chest. It was very frustrating as I had no range. My dad and I started near the hoop, and now I can consistently make foul shots, mid-range shots, and 3-pointers. Every day I shoot 200-250 makes (free throw, 3s, lay-ups, and mid-range with game speed and challenge). Since I changed my shot, I have made over 440, 000 shots with this daily routine (Home Court App, Ty Mishock). This hard work has significantly helped me on the court. I played at K-low Elites 17 U AAU National Team (Adidas). This has provided me the opportunity to play against the highest level of competition to push myself to the highest level. I have done some basketball training at Fidonce in Philadelphia, Fidonce (www.fidonce.com). I have consistently made and am the starting point guard on my school and travel teams.
I was a 3-year starter at Devon Prep in the Philadelphia Catholic League. I am now at Avon Old Farms in the highly competitive Founders League.
I was the starting point guard at Devon Prep as a freshman (2020-2021), helping the team reach the semi-final game of the Philadelphia Catholic league, only to lose to Roman catholic in a COVID-shortened season in 2021.
As a sophomore (2021-2022), I was a starting point guard and captain as we won the PIAA State 3A championship against Aliquippa.
As a junior (2022-2023), Our team lost in the semi-finals PIAA state playoffs. I won the all-tournament team of the Reading Christmas tournament and was MVP of the Cristo Rey Christmas tournament in Philadelphia. I ended my season averaging 14 points a game, 4.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 3 rebounds, making 59 three-pointers at 40%. I was 3rd team all Philadelphia Catholic League and 2nd team all Delco.
I am passionate and dedicated to being a student-athlete with a strong desire to play in college and beyond. I am focused on becoming a great student. I will continue to work hard through high school to prepare myself to excel as a high-level point guard.
Thanks so much for viewing my statement,
Passionately,
Ty Mishock, Avon Old Farms PG, 2024
