My name is Austin Collins and I am currently a sophomore at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT. I currently have an 8.67 GPA at Hotchkiss, however I am striving to improve that everyday at school. I am considered by teammates as a hard working, tough guard that is always looking for ways to make my teammates better. I strive to be the best student-athlete that I can be as well as being a well respected person of the community. After almost every practice and most games, I am trying to improve aspects of my game that I feel are under developed. I work with my coaches as well as the older players on the team that have made names for themselves and I am trying to follow in their footsteps. I communicate well with my teammates and get along well with my teammates, and I am always looking for a way to help them out; whether it is on the floor or in the classroom. I have leadership qualities such as clear communication with teammates and coaches, the ability to make a plan, and I am always pushing my teammates to do there best and follow any created plan. I feel that a leader should not only be able to lead his own plan, but also be able to assist the following of any devised plan whether it is his own or not.
My goal is to play basketball in college at a school that challenges me both academically and athletically. I would love to play anywhere that this would come to fruition. As I am a Sophomore I am not exactly sure what I would want to study, however I have an interest in medicine, so a Pre-Med course would be great to have as well. I would love to play Division 1 not only to say in 20 years that I played Division 1 athletics, but because I feel that I have a chip on my shoulder which I have gained from playing behind a very skillful guard in through out High School. And I would love to prove to alot of people that I can play like this as well. However, I am not a Division 1 or bust type player, I would love to play basketball at any collegiate level at whatever it takes.
Thank you,
