Personal Statement

While I played basketball since I was in elementary school, I was more dedicated to baseball until 8th grade.  In middle school, my interests shifted and basketball became my priority.  I kept the same determined work ethic and began to focus on developing my basketball skills.  Immediately after my freshman season, I began a workout routine that involved strength training, skill development, as well as agility and speed training.  My off-season workouts earned me a starting position on the varsity team my sophomore year.  I've continued these workouts which begin at 6am before school and continue after school daily.  I believe I am a leader by example as I have encouraged my teammates to join me for the "breakfast club" workouts (as my coach calls them).  I was selected as one of the varsity team captains my junior year.  This was an honor I took seriously as I was chosen to lead alongside three of the seven seniors on our team.  I was selected captain again for my upcoming senior season.  I am a team player who is versatile in my role as a shooting guard.  In addition to making shots outside the arc, I play tenacious defense, go after loose balls, execute smart passes, drive to the hoop, box out for rebounds, have vision on the court, and keep a level head no matter what's happening around me. I have had to work to earn everything that I've accomplished.  I plan to continue to become the best I can be as a student-athlete at the college level and contribute to my team's success.

This is my routine during the school year. During the summer months, I play on an AAU team and workout for approximately 3.5-4 hours a day along with any AAU practices.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
