I have been involved in sports since I was four years old. Along with basketball, I have played soccer, spent nine years playing youth tackle football (RB, WR, CB), where we earned several championships, and I won several MVP awards. I also spent four years running track & field, where I earned several Regional and National Championship medals (100m, 200m, 400m, Long Jump, High Jump & Triple Jump) including winning the 2013 Hershey’s Track & Field North American Championship in the 100m. My coaches have always considered me to be a leader and I have been a team captain on every team that I have played for. In the eighth grade I made the decision to focus specifically on basketball.
This is my third year as a starter on the Leesburg High School Varsity basketball team. This season I have helped guide our team all the way to the 5A Final Four of the FHSAA State Championships. Last month I was also named the 5A District 8 Player of the Year by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association.
I have always aspired to play at the collegiate level, and I know that I can make a positive contribution to any team. I am a unselfish player and have a high basketball IQ, strong ball handling skills, and play aggressive defense at both ends of the court. I am a Team Captain and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable, and I will continue to be one of the hardest working players on any team that I am a part of.
Off the court, I put in the work to keep my education moving forward at a high level. In elementary school I was in “Bridges”, which were special classes for honors students. I currently have a 3.75 weighted GPA and have completed several Honors & AP courses during my High School career. By the end of the first term, I have already earned the credits needed to graduate. I am also member of Leesburg High Schools “2 Steps in Common”, a mentoring program for students of color.
As an aspiring college student athlete, I am driven to excel both athletically and academically. Being that I have spent my entire life involved in sports, I am looking for a college that upon graduation would prepare me to pursue a sports related career such as Sports Management, Sports Media or an Athletic Trainer. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to continue being a good role model and to make my parents proud.
