I believe that the game of basketball has given so much back to me and my family since I started playing at a very young age. This great game has taught me excellent skills and values that I know I will be carrying well after college. For example, I am confident that basketball has developed me into a capable leader both on and off the court. I embrace the responsibility of having the 4 other guys lean on me when times are tough or when the team needs direction off the court after a tough loss. I have also come to value the idea of a strong work ethic from my time in the gym. I know there are certain areas that I may lack in my game which I am committed to turning into strengths by working diligently in the gym.
This game brings a smile to my face every time I jump on the court. I really do enjoy this great game whether it is playing competitive ball in the DC area with some of the best talent in the country or bonding with my Dad getting shots up at night. My goal is to bring this passion and work ethic to a college basketball program after having a successful high school career.
I also completely understand the importance of academics in the recruiting process. I see basketball as a tool that I can use to help me receive a great education that will put me on the correct path to have a very successful professional career. I am quickly learning the importance of balancing both basketball and academics because I want to achieve great success in both these areas in the next few years.
My family and I have set up a game plan to reach my ultimate goal of playing college basketball for a competitive program where I will be able to pursue similar goals with my teammates and coaches. I am looking forward to overcoming obstacles both on and off the court along this process because it will allow for me to develop a certain toughness that I believe coaches are looking for in potential student-athletes.
