Personal Statement

Every since I was five years old, I knew I had the passion to play any sports with a ball.  After playing basketball over the past couple years, I knew this was the sport for me.

I have been above average ball handling skills after working so hard with my personal trainer to become a great player.  I'm working hard to improve my  basketball IQ and shot selection as a point guard.  I'm a team player and always encouraging my teammates to become better players so we can compete at high level.  I'm definitely coachable person and will work really hard for any team I play on.   When I'm not playing basketball, I'm studying really hard to maintain a great GPA at Bayard  Rustin High School.  In addition, I volunteer my time working on local humanities projects and  youth basketball teams and or camps.  I really want to attend a college and/or university where I'm able to push myself to the full potential with my academics and on the basketball court.  I'm open to all options that comes my way so I am able to find the right  college and/or university to fit my highest level of competition.  Hoping, I'm able to share my basketball talent in the future with a college and/ or university that finds me a great fit for their basketball program.   I just want to make my mother pride of me.

  • Camp/Event
  • Hoop Group Elite Camp
  • 7/14/15 to 7/17/15
  • Four days at Hoop Group Elite Camp was very competitive. But, I worked really hard on my strengths on the court and hoping I was able to capture some coaches attention during this event. I know I have the skills and talent to play college basketball.

  • 4/19/15 to 4/19/15
  • This was a great event. I learned a lot from Reggie Rankin (ESPN/Recruiting Analyst) on what it takes to play college basketball. He had given a lot of great pointers on each position on the floor. Since my position is a guard (point/shooter), he shared a lot of information on what it takes to be a great guard.
  • Camp/Event
  • Elite 96 Philadelphia
  • 11/08/14 to 11/08/14
  • This was a great event. But, I was very disppointed in my performance, because we played three games and I only did great on one of the games. My performance of the game was based on three games. I'm hoping I will have opportunity to play for this organization again in the future, because I know I can play D1 or D2 college level.
  • Camp/Event
  • Keystone State Basketball Fall Shootouts
  • 10/04/14 to 10/04/14
  • This event was a great opportunity for me! I played three games to show off my ability to play offense and defense. It was hard to really show the college coaches my ability to play, due to my team mates not sharing the ball when it's needed. I was able to show little of basketball skills.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hoop Group Academic Elite 2
  • 7/15/14 to 7/18/14
  • During the 4 days, I have learned a lot on what it takes to play college basketball. I received a player evaluation form and few things I need to work on (shot selection and basketball IQ).Over the next months, I'm going to continue to work hard in the inside and outside gym courts on my shooting. Reading more material on how to advance my basketball IQ. I know its a strong mental approach and I'm willing to work. My camp coach indicated that I'm coachable, wants to get better. Explosive to the rim. Its was over 400 campers ranging from (9th -12th graders) and my team make it to the "Championship game"! Great 4 days of developmental skills and what it takes to play College basketball.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hoop Group Metro Academic Elite 100
  • 3/29/14 to 3/29/14
  • I was selected to be in the top 100 during this event. There's a write up on Hoop Group for my performance during this day on their website. This event was great opporunity for me and I have learned a lot.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hoop Group Academic Elite Camp
  • 6/14/11 to 6/17/11
  • I had the change to show off my talent to DII & DIII coaches. I had learned a lot on how to become a great point guard, since I was only fourteen and just graduated from 8th grade. I able to show great vision on the court and beat my man off the dribble. Having the ability to use my left more efficient. Being a great leader!
