As a young black male growing up in South Florida, I have developed the characteristics to ensure my success. they are academics, attitude, and athletics. Since I was a little boy, my parents encouraged me to be the very best I can be. To work hard in the classroom, on the court and on the track. But, most important of them all was to have the right attitude,be humble and learn from your short comings.
For the most part the same lessons were taught at Dillard High School. Dillard is more than just a high school it is a part of history in the community. It is one of oldest Historical Black High Schools in the nation. This institution has produced several doctors, lawyers, judges, politicians, and professional athletes. Now, it is my turn to make my mark at an institution of higher learning. With the education and nurturing that I have received from my parents, Dillard and the community I am prepared to do well at any institution of higher learning.
Over the past four years I have been a three sport student athlete. In Cross Country I have run in the state or regional meet. During track seasons I have appeared in the state track meet three times. As far as basketball I was a starter on a back-to-back state champion team. And I also maintained a 3.0 grade point average.
