I initially wanted to play basketball to be better than everyone in my neighborhood, but the drive turned into me actually wanting to play basketball in more places other than just the neighborhood or local rec. I want to be someone that is remembered with basketball. Basketball has matured me in many ways. It gives me a voice, and it has taught me to be a great leader. Basketball has also made me see the importance of academics. You can’t hoop if you have bad grades. I love hooping too much to have bad grades. It’s just something about my game that makes me like the game more.
I feel like I’m just different. My IQ makes me standout from everyone else in my class. I can see the floor easily, set up teammates perfectly, and I can make my own shot if needed. My floater is deadly. My most dominant skill other than learning in the classroom is my skill to run the floor. Nobody likes to pass anymore, but me I’m just different.
