Hi, my name is Zachary Ranson and I would like to first thank you for taking the time to get to know more about me. I am 16 years old and I am a rising junior at St. Pius X Catholic High School (SPX) in Atlanta GA. I am a starting Wing/Post player for St. Pius X and I have averaged 12.3 ppg., 7.6 rpg., 3.3 apg., and 2.3 bpg. this past season as a sophomore. I joined St. Pius X varsity team as a freshman in the late fall of 2015. I came off the bench and contribute quality minutes to helped my team get to the 2015-2016 GHSA 4AAAA Elite 8 Playoffs. In the 2016-2017 season, I played an intricate role in helping Pius to reach the GHSA 4AAAA State Championship game. Unfortunately, we lost by five points to Upson Lee. This would have been the first time in 25 years that St. Pius X Men’s Varsity Basketball Team has won a Championship game.
Currently my AAU team is the Blue Collar Basketball Organization. I’ve been with the BCB organization for three years. During that time, we have won several different tournaments, such as the 2015 Bob Gibbons Classic, the 2016 Norman Parker, and the 2017 Ga. Cup Series I and III. I have gained many of my leadership qualities from the coaches at BCB. Prior to playing with BCB, I played with the Top Notch Basketball Club (TNBC) Select 2019. While playing with TNBC Select 2019, we won the 2014 Norman Parker, the 2014 Under the Radar, and placed second in the 2014 Bob Gibbons Classic. Before TNBC Select, I played with the GA. Shockers where we placed sixteen in the Regional Qualifiers.
As a student at Pius, I pride myself on keeping my grades up to a certain standard because I know my education is what is going to make me successful. I currently carry a 3.15 GPA while playing football, basketball, and running track. If I am offered the opportunity to attend college on a scholarship, I plan to major in Animal Science to pursue my dream of becoming a Vet.
