Hello Coaches, my name is Rodney Smith Jr. and I would like to first thank you for taking the time to learn more about me as a person, player, and student athlete. It is currently my junior year at Chamblee Charter High School in Chamblee, Georgia.
At Champion Theme Middle School I was a starter as a 7th & 8th grader, I also lead my team to an undefeated season my 8th grade year. As a freshman at Chamblee Charter High School, I started on the Junior Varsity team and played on Varsity as a freshman.
I truly love the game of basketball, even in the midst of all the loudness and chaos, I can't help but to feel at peace when I am on the court! I started playing AAU travel basketball at the young age of 8 and have played ever since. In 4th grade 2010, I played for the Ballin Blazers where we finished 4th Place in the Division 1 National Championship in Orlando, Florida.
My Freshman year at Chamblee, I was the highest scorer on my Junior Varsity team with 156 points, averaging 13 points per game and helped lead my team to the Region 4 AAAAA County playoffs. I was awarded the Dekalb County Tip Off Club Player of the month my Junior Year, was Honored as the Cleveland Stround Basketball Classic Tournament Most Valuable Player 2017 and Region 5 AAAAA All Region Team. I also played AAU travel ball for Ballin Blazers in Stone Mountain GA where we went 36-7 with winning several championships and placing runner up in AAU Super Showcase 2018 held in Orlando FL. .
I feel like I would be an asset to any team because I give my team 110% of me on and off the court. My team is my family. I have not decided on my major yet, but I think I would like to major in the engineering field. I currently have a GPA of 3.1 and plan to maintain it.
Thanks again for taking the time to learn more about me.
