Personal Statement

I am a 6'2" senior at Boise High School in Idaho. I am a combo shooting/point guard, and I am interested in attending a college or university with a good academic reputation and men’s basketball program.  I believe in hard work and a team approach to basketball. I would like to play for a program where I can contribute and eventually lead.

I have been a leading scorer for Boise High and I have played on varsity for four years, playing both JV and varsity my freshman year.  I have been a starter on Varsity since the second half of my sophomore year.   Additionally, I play, and have played since 7th grade, on a travel club basketball team in the Spring and Summer.

Last year, my junior year, I was a Varsity Captain and Offensive MVP for my high school team.  Boise High is 5A in the Southern Idaho Athletic Conference (SIC).  In the 2022/23 season I tied for 4th in the SIC in average points per game (11.6), and also tied for 4th in overall high score, which was 28 points.  I averaged 3.3 RBPG, 77.3 FT% and 1.2 APG.  I was selected as Idaho Underground Sports Network’s Player of the Week and Honorable Mention All-Conference.

This season, my senior year, I was Varsity Captain, Offensive MVP and Player of the Year.  On 12/22/22 I had 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal; 1/4/23, I had 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals against Eagle High who is ranked 3rd in the Southern Idaho Conference; and last Friday, 1/6/23, I had 25 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.    I ended my 20-game senior season with an average 15 PPG, 79.3 FTP, 2.8 RBPG, 1.6 APG, and 1.5 SPG.  I was selected as All-Conference Second Team and selected for the All-State Team.

I plan to study Communications and Creative Writing in college. Creative writing, mainly in the form of screenplays and fictional stories, is my passion.  I'm looking for a small, intimate university experience.  I have a 3.26 overall GPA. Admittedly, online learning was difficult. I'm a better student than my GPA suggests. I am currently taking two AP courses and I finished the first semester of my senior year with a 3.85 GPA.

I am a hard worker, reliable, loyal, and dedicated.  I believe I have the heart, skill, attitude, and work ethic to be a college basketball player.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
