To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to thank you, for taking the time, that I can share with you the things, I and my team mates, have achieved as I have participated in basketball throughout my life.
As a young basketball player, my goals and aspirations, even then, were to achieve perfection and be the best I could be. That only happens by practice, commitment, and paying the price to achieve my personal goals. Play varsity for 3 years and be a great team player with quickness, court speed and awareness, have tremendous jumping skills, which, not only to better my performances, but to make all of my team mates better around me.
What makes me a good candidate for their team?
I have been a starting varsity point guard for the Burley Bobcats for 3 years. My father, Jack Bagley, was my varsity coach, until this year, 2017- 2018, unfortunately, my parents divorced, my mother moved away 5 years ago, and my father found another lady and he moved to Arizona. I am presently living with my grandparents, Terry and Ginger Jones, at 668 Primrose Drive, Paul, Idaho, 83347. The first 4 years after their separation and divorce was difficult, but, because of my desire to become a great basket ball player, and good people around me I have adjusted and have been able to conquer the difficulties that was very devastating. I learned I had to tuffin up, if, I wanted to go on and achieve my goals. I have had the opportunity to go to the state basketball tournament Sophomore and Junior years. Last year, we were rated in the top 5 Division 4A in the state and finished in 3rd place in the state tournament. I was the MVP of the Great Basin Conference. I was chosen as the MVP 4A State Tournament and was an All-State selection. After the season ended, my season ending statistics were as follows:
22.6 points/game
8.7 assists/ game
5.3 rebounds/game
I am 6'2" and have a vertical leap of 38". I can two hand stuff the basketball
I have very good court speed and awareness to involve my teammates any time they are open. The assists speak for itself. My teammate last year, Cody Hackett-6'8", is presently playing in Maine, shared a comment with the newspaper after we won the District Tournament to go to state and was asked "how do you like playing with Ryan Bagley?" Cody replied, "if you are open Ryan will get you the ball!!" This year, as a senior, we are presently rated 2nd and 3rd in four different polls and anticipate if we play well to make the state tournament again this year. Presently, why I make a good candidate for one's team my statistics is almost the same as last year, and I am getting a lot of double and triple teaming.
In my early varsity experiences, I would let referring calls irritate me, and didn't realize that self control was so important and controlling my emotions. I have learned that I can't play and referee at the same time and by doing so, it has made me a better player and accept any call that comes my way, because uncontrolled actions never change the calls. I am very competitive, like most basketball participants, but, when I go onto the court, loosing is not an option, and do everything I can with my teammates win or lose, everything is left on the court. I really feel, as a point guard, I see the floor and the potential for open players is the thing I do best. I never let ego come into play, and respect the players that I compete against, never using foul language, or insults. I have a target on my back when I play and never play with arrogance that I think I am better than anyone else. I am me.
I mentioned the circumstances with my parents. During this period of time up to my Junior year, academics was not good and then I came to the realization, as one of my goals, you had better get your grades up. Gradually, from my Junior year and now my grades have been right where they need to be. First semester of this year is 3.25. I have learned because of non-parental guidance at home during the years that I have mentioned, I was not disciplined in the conscious everyday studying. I have finally got the picture.
Thanks for your consideration,
Ryan Bagley----2018
