As I look back on what as influenced me as an individual I think of a few people. My parents have done everything to make me a better person and player whether that was putting me through camps, going to games, losing sleep or being a great role model. Also my P.E. teacher Mrs. Pratt has taught me to strive for better things and be a better individual on and off the court. Without her my game and my personality would not be the same. I think the struggle of getting my siblings to school and making sure they were fed when I got home as my parents had to work late to provide for us. I also think the stress I went through to try and become the best in the classroom and live up to the standards set by the teachers and my parents made me strive to be the leader I am today. My dad was a great athlete and raised me from birth playing football, basketball, and baseball as well as constantly trying new sports. The mindset of being an athlete always seemed to be there so I worked day to day to get better at my techniques. I also was constantly in the gym helping my parents at practice as my mom coached high school volleyball, and my dad coached baseball, and middle school boys and girls basketball. Sports was the only way to live in my household and I wouldn't change it for anything.
Through playing sports I have learned to become quicker in my instincts and reflexes. I have also learned to become a better leader in times where my team needs me and times where I need them. I have also found my limits and the areas that I need improvement on to help me in the future. My academic goals for high school was to achieve a 4.0 in my classes and be advanced in Math, English and Science. I have finished all my credits a year early and plan on taking more college courses in my senior year. I plan on being involved in college and doing as much as I can to better the people around me. I also want to keep a 3.5 GPA or higher in college. I have had to prove myself to the people and coaches around me because I didn't have a known last name in the community and the coaches didn't think I was worth their time. I proved to them that they made a mistake after not starting me the first game my sophomore year and after that they made me captain for the next year and put the team on my shoulders. I also just had back surgery and battled the injury all season and still performed well as many people thought I was faking it. I will be good to go in September and rehab to be a better individual because of it. I have the ability to play every position and cover many roles on the court. I have am involved in almost every group offered and can take the load of almost anything while keeping a high GPA. I always challenge myself to be a better person and strive for more every day. Strive for Perfection and Achieve Excellence!!!
